The Philadelphia Art Alliance,
which recently announced its
new focus on contemporary
crafts, has named Maida R. Mi-
lone as CEO. Milone practiced
law, managed for-profit organi-
zations and headed the Center
for Emerging Visual Artists,
a Philadelphia artist-services
organization.

Art Quilt Associates. Chipetine,
who is a portfolio manager at
the Institute of International
Education, was

board of directors. Replacing

Awards and Honors
Since 2006, United States Art-
ists, the Los Angeles-based
grant-making organization, has
annually awarded 50 fellow-
ships-$50,ooo each-to artists
in eight disciplines. For 2009,

is the winner of the eleventh
annual Ronald & Anita Wor-
nick Award, a scholarship given
to talented students in wood
arts at the California College of
the Arts. She received $6,coo.

Will Tracey is the 2009 winner
of the $25,ooojohn D. Mineck
Furniture Fellowship adminis-
tered by the Society of Arts and
Crafts, Boston. Tracey is an
adjunct instructor and studio
technician at the Rochester In-
stitute of Technology. The fel-
lowship helps young furniture
artists develop their careers.
